Rumi, Lovers' Touch

Your love lifts my body to the sky
And you lift me up out of two worlds.
I want your sun to reach my raindrops,
So your heat can raise my soul upward like a cloud.

Moleskine Journals + Pages

One of the three journals I simultaneously use

The sunblaze rose in this one came from a bouquet given by my momma during graduation.

Self-portrait (foot edizione) taken in Suriento, Summer 2004.

Another journal page ;o) The photograph was taken at some random train station, 'fireworks' setting.

John Hancock Tower, taken last year.

For M

This is supposed to be a gift for a friend’s birthday, but I’m kind of thinking I should just buy a card instead. The base colour (#39) came out really well; as usual I used a lazy susan to paint an even coating. The “calligraphy” and “designs” were made using one of those squeeze bottles (my first time, which shows in the unsteadiness of the damn design) in colour #51. The calligraphy is a tugra ; it’s the translation of my friend’s name in stylized Arabic script. Another first…me doing Arabic script freestyle on a piece of pottery.

In any case, for the borders I used geometric patterns that are common in AmerIndian designs (I'm  Tsalagi), and the colours represent his birth month (green) and the fact that he’s a person who just shines (gold, like the sun). It looked somewhat okay when the paint dried, but after the glazing and firing…the flaws just went front and center.

Sigh.

There’s still time to stop by Hallmark or something. Buy him a card and a chocolate.

Psyche awakened into being by Cupid's kiss

Of all the words in all the languages and dialects in the world, nothing is both easiest and hardest than "I love you" in sincerity.

We must never permit the voice of humanity
within us to be silenced. It is Man's sympathy with all creatures that first makes him a Man.

--Albert Schweitzer

Everything can be taken from a man or a woman but one thing: the last of human freedoms to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.
